HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 192
BY REPRESENTATIVE FREEMAN
PUBLIC BUILDINGS/ST CAPL:  Provides relative to a recycling program at the state
capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To urge and request the legislature and all offices in the state capitol to encourage
3 participation in reduction of waste and recycling programs.
4 WHEREAS, R.S. 30:2415(H) requires each branch of state government to adopt a
5recycling program with emphasis on single stream recycling so as to increase compliance;
6and
7 WHEREAS, the legislature believes that all areas of state government should be
8leaders in waste reduction and recycling and demonstrate the benefits of adopting such
9practices; and
10 WHEREAS, numerous agencies have offices in the state capitol; and
11 WHEREAS, the state has a contract with Republic Services, Inc., for recycling pick-
12up at the state capitol; and
13 WHEREAS, the contract provides pick-up of paper, plastic, and aluminum or metal,
14etc.; and
15 WHEREAS, the legislature, the governor's office, and the other agencies with offices
16in the state capitol should be setting the example for other state agencies to follow regarding
17recycling.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request all offices in the state capitol to
20encourage participation in reduction of waste and recycling programs.
