HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 4

COMMENDATIONS: Commends head football coach of St. Charles Catholic High School,
Frank Monica, on the occasion of his retirement
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend St. Charles Catholic High School head football coach, Frank Monica, on the
3 occasion of his retirement.
4 WHEREAS, Frank Monica first developed a love for sports while attending Reserve
5High School, where he was a standout athlete in both baseball and football; after graduating,
6he went on to play baseball at Nicholls State University; and
7 WHEREAS, Coach Monica began his high school coaching career as an assistant
8coach for the Lutcher High School football team in 1971; by 1976, he had been promoted
9to head coach of the team; and
10 WHEREAS, Coach Monica has helmed four Louisiana high school football programs
11over the course of his nearly fifty-year coaching career: Lutcher High School, Riverside
12Academy, St. Charles Catholic High School, and Jesuit High School; he won state
13championships with Lutcher, Riverside Academy, and St. Charles, and he was exceptional
14while at Jesuit as well; and
15 WHEREAS, during his time as a head coach at St. Charles Catholic, Coach Monica
16posted an extremely impressive record of two hundred eighty-four wins and only eighty-
17seven losses; he retires as the most successful coach in river parishes high school football's
18illustrious history; and
19 WHEREAS, Frank Monica is a Louisiana high school football coaching legend, and
20he is most deserving of the highest recognition on the occasion of his retirement.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend St. Charles Catholic High School head
3football coach, Frank Monica, on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby thank Coach
4Monica for the tremendous impact he has had on the lives of the many young men who have
5had the privilege of playing under him; does hereby highlight Coach Monica's unfathomable
6level of success in one of the most competitive high school football states in the nation; and
7does hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that he continue to enjoy the same level of
8success as he ventures into retirement.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Frank
10Monica.
