COMMENDATIONS: Commends Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association, Inc., and its
executive director and president, Katherine Prevost
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association, Inc., and its executive director and
3 president, Katherine Prevost.
4 WHEREAS, Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association, Inc., was established on
5January 30, 2007, to stimulate revitalization and building in the Upper 9th Ward of New
6Orleans through a comprehensive approach focused on neighborhood rebuilding; and
7 WHEREAS, Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association, Inc., works to achieve its
8mission by providing a vehicle of economic opportunities that lead to economic
9development, business growth, and more livable wages; the organization also works to
10improve public health, foster social interaction, and enhance the Upper 9th Ward's cultural
11heritage; and
12 WHEREAS, the association partnered with Water Wise Gulf South in 2019 to start
13the Water Wise Upper 9th Ward Initiative; today, the organization is responsible for
14seventeen projects in the Upper 9th Ward and stores up to 4,250 gallons of rain water per
15weather event; and
16 WHEREAS, the Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association is led by its executive
17director and president, Katherine Prevost; she is a native New Orleanian who completed the
18Water Wise Citywide Neighborhood Champions training in 2016 and the National Green
19Infrastructure Certification Program in 2019; she has a background in emergency
20management and preparedness; the association's board is made up of residents and
21stakeholders of the Upper 9th Ward; and

1 WHEREAS, Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association, Inc., and its executive
2director and president, Katherine Prevost, are most deserving of recognition for their efforts
3to help improve the living conditions for residents of the Upper 9th Ward in New Orleans.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association,
6Inc., and its executive director and president, Katherine Prevost, and does hereby extend
7sincere hopes that they continue to enjoy success as they work to help improve the quality
8of life in the Upper 9th Ward.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
10president of the Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association.
