COMMENDATIONS: Commends Volunteers of America for its contributions to Louisiana
on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Volunteers of America for its contributions to Louisiana on the occasion of its
3 one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary.
4 WHEREAS, Volunteers of America has served the needs of our nation's most
5vulnerable people since 1896; and
6 WHEREAS, Volunteers of America maintained its national headquarters in
7Louisiana for over twenty years; and
8 WHEREAS, for one hundred twenty-five years, Volunteers of America Southeast
9Louisiana has provided services that support and empower more than fifty thousand
10vulnerable people, including youth, older adults, people with disabilities, people who
11struggle with substance abuse disorders, and people recently released from prison; and
12 WHEREAS, for the past one hundred years, Volunteers of America Greater Baton
13Rouge has provided services that promote self-reliance, dignity, and hope to more than
14twenty thousand people, including abused and neglected children, at-risk youth and their
15families, older adults, veterans, people with chronic illness or developmental disabilities, and
16many more; and
17 WHEREAS, Volunteers of America North Louisiana, which was founded in
18Shreveport, has provided life-changing services to more than six thousand three hundred
19people over the last eighty-six years; and

1 WHEREAS, Volunteers of America is celebrating the organization's one hundred
2twenty-fifth anniversary this year, and it is most deserving of recognition for its impact on
3the state of Louisiana.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Volunteers of America for its contributions
6to Louisiana on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary and does hereby
7extend sincere hopes that Volunteers of America continue to successfully serve our most
8vulnerable residents with dedication, perseverance, and hope.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
10president of Volunteers of America and the president of each of its Louisiana affiliates.
