HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 56

COMMENDATIONS: Commends Morris & Dickson Co. LLC for its community service
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Morris & Dickson Co. LLC for its community service.
3 WHEREAS, in 1841, John Worthington Morris opened J.W. Morris & Co. as an
4independent pharmacy in Shreveport; Morris partnered with the Dickson family to form
5Morris & Dickson Co.; today, Morris & Dickson Co. is owned and operated by the Dickson
6family; and
7 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC is a leader in the pharmaceutical
8distribution industry; the state of Louisiana has relied on Morris & Dickson Co. LLC during
9many natural disasters including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the COVID-19 pandemic;
10and
11 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC also provides operational and logistical
12support for hospitals and pharmacies across the state and country; and
13 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC was selected to serve Louisiana as the
14state's distribution facility for COVID-19 vaccines; it also delivered various alternative
15treatments for COVID-19 prior to the development of a viable vaccine; and
16 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC fulfilled emergency allocation and special
17delivery needs throughout the hospital inpatient crisis during the early months of the
18COVID-19 pandemic and provided important respiratory drugs to intensive care units; and
19 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC trained its employees to package and ship
20frozen doses of the COVID-19 vaccine within a twenty-four hour timeframe; and

1 WHEREAS, Morris & Dickson Co. LLC is most deserving of recognition for the
2vitally important role it has played during the ongoing pandemic and for its service to the
3state of Louisiana.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Morris & Dickson Co. LLC for its
6community service; does hereby recognize the company for its service to the state of
7Louisiana over the last one hundred fifty years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic;
8and does hereby extend sincere hopes that it continue to serve Louisiana when it is called
9upon to help.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
11chief executive officer of Morris & Dickson Co. LLC.
