ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 65 BY REPRESENTATIVES BACALA AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To designate Monday, May 10, 2021, as Alzheimer's Awareness Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, there are currently more than 92,000 people suffering from Alzheimer's or another type of dementia in Louisiana; and WHEREAS, in the United States, Alzheimer's disease is the sixth leading cause of death; and WHEREAS, in Louisiana, it is estimated that more than 232,000 family caregivers provide 318 million hours of unpaid care for family members with Alzheimer's; and WHEREAS, studies predict that, by the year 2025, more than 110,000 persons in Louisiana will be living with Alzheimer's. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Monday, May 10, 2021, as Alzheimer's Awareness Day at the state capitol and does hereby encourage citizens of the great state of Louisiana to raise awareness of this devastating disease.
