LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: Establishes the Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics (STEM) Innovation Caucus
1 A RESOLUTION
2To establish and recognize the Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and
3 Mathematics (STEM) Innovation Caucus of the House of Representatives and to
4 provide relative to the caucus.
5 WHEREAS, biosciences are responsible for the creation of jobs for over eleven
6thousand five hundred Louisiana residents with an average individual salary of eighty-one
7thousand seven hundred five dollars per year; and
8 WHEREAS, Louisiana is home to many academic institutions which collectively
9attract more than one hundred sixty-two million dollars of National Institutes of Health
10funding; and
11 WHEREAS, Louisiana is a leader in engineering, biomedical innovation, energy, and
12many other STEM sectors; and
13 WHEREAS, the establishment of the Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering,
14and Mathematics Innovation Caucus, hereafter referred to as the STEM Innovation Caucus,
15will enable members of the House of Representatives who are passionate about STEM
16innovation and growth in Louisiana to develop, coordinate, facilitate, and speak with a
17unified voice for legislative policy supporting STEM research and entrepreneurialism in
18Louisiana.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby establish and recognize the Louisiana Science,
21Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Innovation Caucus.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that every member of the House of Representatives
2who has an interest in STEM innovation and policy development may be a member of the
3STEM Innovation Caucus.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the STEM Innovation Caucus of the House of
5Representatives shall not be provided any funding, office space, equipment, or staff by the
6House of Representatives or any agency thereof.
