COMMENDATIONS: Commends Brother Martin High School on winning the 2021
Louisiana high school rugby state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Brother Martin High School on winning the 2021 Louisiana high school rugby
3 state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Brother Martin Crusaders captured the state rugby championship
5by defeating St. Paul's 33-19 at their match in Metairie; and
6 WHEREAS, the Crusaders opened the game's scoring and led 12-7 at halftime; the
7score was deadlocked at 19-19 late in the game, but the Crusaders eventually pulled away
8with two late, unanswered scores; and
9 WHEREAS, Brother Martin High School celebrates its first state rugby
10championship since 2002; Jacob Schmidt was named Man of the Match in Brother Martin's
11championship victory; and
12 WHEREAS, Brother Martin High School is most deserving of recognition for
13capturing its first rugby state title in nearly two decades.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
15Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Brother Martin High School on winning the
162021 Louisiana high school rugby state championship and does hereby extend sincere hopes
17for the continued success of the Brother Martin High School rugby program.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
19principal of Brother Martin High School.
