COMMENDATIONS: Commends Samantha Paul on winning the 2021 Louisiana
Agriscience Teachers Association Essay Contest
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Samantha Paul on winning the 2021 Louisiana Agriscience Teachers
3 Association Essay Contest.
4 WHEREAS, Samantha Paul is a sophomore FFA member and chapter president at
5Tioga High School where Ms. Debbie McFarland serves as the agriscience teacher and FFA
6advisor; and
7 WHEREAS, the National FFA Organization prepares and trains students for
8leadership and professions in the science, business, and technology of agriculture in public
9schools throughout our nation with over eleven thousand members in two hundred and four
10chapters here in Louisiana; and
11 WHEREAS, the mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in
12the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal
13growth, and career success through agricultural education; and
14 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Agriscience Teachers Association (LATA) represents the
15interests of the agriscience teaching profession in the state and provides resources for
16strengthening middle school and high school agriscience programs by enhancing the skills
17of agriscience teachers; and
18 WHEREAS, the LATA sponsors an annual essay contest for current agriscience
19students and FFA members to participate; and
20 WHEREAS, the 2021 LATA Essay Contest writing topic was "Why should
21agricultural literacy be taught in every grade level?"; and

1 WHEREAS, out of the numerous competitors statewide, Samantha Paul was selected
2as the 2021 LATA Essay Contest state winner on February 28, 2021.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Samantha Paul of the Tioga High School
5FFA Chapter on winning the 2021 LATA Essay Contest and exemplifying the excellence
6of Louisiana agriscience students.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
8to Samantha Paul.
