Present law provides that a person who is arrested for a felony or other specified offense, including
an attempt, conspiracy, criminal solicitation, or accessory after the fact, is to have a DNA sample
collected at the same time he is fingerprinted pursuant to the booking procedure.
Proposed law retains present law and adds that the DNA sample collected pursuant to present law
may be analyzed during or immediately following the booking of the arrestee, or at any time
thereafter.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
