The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jeanne C. Johnston. DIGEST SB 246 Engrossed 2021 Regular Session Tarver Present law declares the intent of the legislature to establish a world language immersion school to provide an expansive and challenging educational experience for the students of the state. Further states the legislature's finding that the development of a world language skills program and cultural expertise are crucial in addressing the economic challenges facing the state, the nation, and the global marketplace. Proposed law retains these provisions. Present law creates and provides for a 14-member exploratory committee to develop a plan regarding the creation and establishment of an international language immersion school at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Further provides for members of the committee to serve until such time as the school is established and begins operation. Requires the committee to submit a written report and implementation plan to the Senate and House education committees not later than March 31, 2013. Proposed law repeals these provisions. Effective August 1, 2021. (Repeals R.S. 17:1970.32 and 1970.33)
