RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 110 (SB 246) 2021 Regular Session Tarver Prior law declared the intent of the legislature to establish a world language immersion school to provide an expansive and challenging educational experience for the students of the state. Further stated the legislature's finding that the development of a world language skills program and cultural expertise are crucial in addressing the economic challenges facing the state, the nation, and the global marketplace. New law retains these provisions. Prior law created and provided for a 14-member exploratory committee to develop a plan regarding the creation and establishment of an international language immersion school at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Further provided for members of the committee to serve until such time as the school is established and begins operation. Required the committee to submit a written report and implementation plan to the Senate and House education committees not later than March 31, 2013. New law repeals these provisions. Effective August 1, 2021. (Repeals R.S. 17:1970.32 and 1970.33)
