(gov sig) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:996.67(C)(4), relative to the Civil District Court for the parish 3 of Orleans judicial building fund; to provide for the addition of the assessor's office 4 to the list of parochial offices that will be housed in the new Civil District Court for 5 the parish of Orleans; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 13:996.67(C)(4) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง996.67. Judicial building fund 9 * * * 10 C.(1) * * * 11 (4) The monies generated pursuant to this Section shall be forwarded by the 12 clerk of court and sheriff to the fiscal agent bank chosen by the commission to be 13 held in the courthouse construction fund. Any funds currently on deposit to the 14 separate account of the judicial expense fund from the costs and charges authorized 15 by this Section shall be transferred at the discretion of the commission to the 16 courthouse construction fund held by the commission's fiscal agent. SB NO. 53 SLS 21RS-284 ENGROSSED 1 planning, feasibility, acquisition, construction, equipping, operating, and maintaining 2 a new facility to house the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans, the offices 3 of the clerk of court for Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans, the First City 4 Court, the clerk of the First City Court, the constable of the First City Court, the 5 office of the civil sheriff, the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court, the mortgage office, the 6 conveyance office, the notarial archives, the office of the assessor, and such other 7 courts and parochial offices as may be necessary. No monies generated pursuant to 8 this Section shall be used for payment of any bonded indebtedness involving site 9 acquisition or construction of a new facility unless approved by the Joint Legislative 10 Committee on the Budget and the State Bond Commission. 11 * * * 12 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 13 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 14 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 15 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 16 effective on the day following such approval. DIGEST SB 53 Engrossed 2021 Regular Session Harris Present law authorizes the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans and the clerk of court of the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans to impose additional costs in all cases in which the court has jurisdiction, and further provides that such monies shall be designated to the development, construction, and operation of a new facility to house the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans, the office of the clerk of court for Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans, the First City Court, the clerk of the First City Court, the constable of the First City Court, the office of the civil sheriff, the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court, the mortgage office, the conveyance office, the notarial archives, and such other courts and parochial offices as may be necessary. Proposed law retains present law and adds the assessor's office to the list of parochial offices that will be housed in the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
