1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1223.3(3) and to enact R.S. 37:2457(11), relative to telehealth
3 services provided by licensed hearing aid dealers; to provide for inclusion in the
4 Louisiana Telehealth Access Act; to provide for powers and duties of the board; to
5 provide minimum standards for the provision of telehealth services; to provide for
6 definitions; and to provide for related matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 37:2457(11) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 §2457. Powers and duties of board
10 The powers and duties of the Louisiana Board for Hearing Aid Dealers are
11 as follows:

13 (11) To promulgate rules for the provision of telehealth services by
14 licensed hearing aid dealers that, at a minimum, comply with the Louisiana
15 Telehealth Access Act, R.S. 40:1223.1 et seq.
16 Section 2. R.S. 40:1223.3(3) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
17 §1223.3. Definitions

19 (3) "Healthcare provider" means a person, partnership, limited liability
20 partnership, limited liability company, corporation, facility, or institution licensed
21 or certified by this state to provide healthcare or professional services as a physician
22 assistant, hospital, nursing home, dentist, registered nurse, advanced practice
23 registered nurse, licensed dietitian or nutritionist, licensed practical nurse, certified
24 nurse assistant, offshore health service provider, ambulance service, licensed
25 midwife, pharmacist, speech-language pathologist, audiologist, optometrist,

1 podiatrist, chiropractor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, certified or
2 licensed athletic trainer, psychologist, medical psychologist, social worker, licensed
3 professional counselor, licensed perfusionist, licensed respiratory therapist, licensed
4 radiologic technologist, licensed hearing aid dealer, or licensed clinical laboratory
5 scientist.
