2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 12 BY SENATOR JOHNS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Mr. Richard Don Clements Jr. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the unexpected passing of Mr. Richard Don Clements Jr. on February 2, 2021, at the age of fifty-five; and WHEREAS, he was born on June 12, 1965, to parents Richard Don Clements Sr. and Carolyn Joy Templeton Clements; and WHEREAS, he graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements began his career as a trader in the energy business and later was a certified public accountant for a public accounting firm; and WHEREAS, because he was passionate about helping people financially prepare to live their best life possible, he became a certified financial planner in 2002; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements was a partner in the Global Asset Management Group in Lake Charles and held the prestigious Certified Financial Planner certificate and many advanced designations in the field of retirement income planning and retirement plans; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements married the love of his life, Nancy Shaddock, at First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles and from that union his two children, Will and Mary Kathryn, were born; and WHEREAS, he was a talented guitarist and a treasured member of the worship team at First United Methodist Church, where he and his family were devoted members; and WHEREAS, in addition to his work and sharing his musical talents, he loved to travel, hike, fish, hunt, and in 2012, he completed his lifetime goal of traveling to Africa and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 12 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Clements was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Coastal Conservation Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of Louisiana's marine resources, and chaired, alongside his wife, the Big Lake Invitational Fishing Tournament for many years; and WHEREAS, as a proud supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he beamed with pride when his son, Will, became an Eagle Scout, the highest attainable rank in the organization; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements was a member of the Krewe of Contraband and was so proud to present his daughter, Mary Kathryn, as the Princess "Music of Lincoln Center" in 2016; and WHEREAS, when he was not hunting, fishing, or playing music, he was at home tending to his beautiful rose garden and vegetable garden, which he lovingly nurtured in order to bring fresh roses and vegetables to his beloved wife; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his father, Richard Don Clements Sr.; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements is survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Nancy Edith Shaddock Clements; their two children, Mary Kathryn Clements and William Don Clements; his mother, Carolyn Joy Templeton Clements; and his brother, Kirk Alan Clements; and WHEREAS, although the death of Richard Don Clements Jr. has left a tremendous void in his family and community, his memory shall forever remain in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby respectfully acknowledge with gratitude the outstanding service and numerous accomplishments of Richard Don Clements Jr. and extends sincere regrets and condolences to his family on the occasion of his death.
