SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 64
BY SENATORS BARROW, FIELDS, FOIL AND WHITE AND REPRESENTATIVES
ADAMS, CARPENTER, EDMONDS, FREIBERG, HODGES, JAMES
AND MARCELLE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade on the occasion of
her retirement.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade for her contributions to
3 the interfaith community on the occasion of her retirement as executive director of
4 the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge.
5 WHEREAS, Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade earned a Bachelor of Science degree
6 in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Master of Divinity degree from
7 Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio; and
8 WHEREAS, she is a pastor and ordained minister in, and a writer and resource
9 developer for, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA); and
10 WHEREAS, through her leadership, the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton
11 Rouge, which cultivates unity, justice, and peace:
12 (1) Continued the legacy, begun in 1987, of the Holy Grill Feeding program which
13 serves hot lunches Monday through Friday in North Baton Rouge, even during the pandemic
14 of 2020;
15 (2) Commissioned in 2013 with composer, Robert Kyr, a choral work, Waging
16 Peace, using the words of Baton Rouge residents about violence which had a world premiere
17 with a one-hundred-voice choir in Baton Rouge, and later performed at the Louisiana State
18 Capitol for World Peace Day;

1 (3) Gathered the interfaith community together for prayer and conversation at the
2 Annual Prayer Breakfast;
3 (4) Promoted finding common ground, such as through music at the Annual Sounds
4 of CommUNITY concert, a thirty-year tradition;
5 (5) Coordinated and mobilized volunteer groups who responded after disasters as
6 well as worked with Homeland Security to prepare houses of worship for disaster through
7 preparedness training;
8 (6) Promoted dialogue, including providing educational tools such as "More than
9 Kumbaya", a video series with local black Baton Rouge leaders, created in response to the
10 killing of George Floyd, and much more; and
11 WHEREAS, she has been Pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Canal Fulton, Ohio
12 (1989-1997) and Galilean Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas (1997-2003); and
13 WHEREAS, Reverend McCullough-Bade previously served as interim pastor at
14 Grace Presbyterian Church, in Lafayette, Louisiana, (2003-2004) and at Lutheran Church
15 of Our Saviour, (2005-2007), St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church, (2012-2013),
16 and St. Augustine Episcopal Church (2012-2014), all in Baton Rouge; and
17 WHEREAS, she co-authored with her late husband, Reverend John M. Bade, Daily
18 Faith Practice, 150+ online Bible Studies, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
19 website (based on the second lessons in the three-year common lectionary), Daily
20 Discipleship, 150+ online Bible Studies, ELCA website (based on the gospel reading in the
21 three-year common lectionary), and Our Mission: Discovering God's Call to Us
22 (Augsburg-Fortress Press); and
23 WHEREAS, she served as a post-Katrina mission consultant to ELCA congregations
24 in New Orleans, Louisiana; and
25 WHEREAS, since 2009, Reverend McCullough-Bade has been an integral member
26 of the Louisiana World Peace Day Committee and has coordinated and carried out interfaith
27 activities as part of the World Peace Day celebration at the State Capitol; and
28 WHEREAS, in her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and traveling; and
29 WHEREAS, Reverend McCullough's contributions and compassion are embodied
30 in the song by David Haas, "We Are Called": "We are called to act with justice, We are

1 called to love tenderly, We are called to serve one another, To walk humbly with God."; and
2 WHEREAS, her core beliefs are expressed thusly: "I really believe faith communities
3 want to do good," and "They want to have compassionate love. We share that common
4 denominator of the love of our neighbor and how we can help the person that's in need. I
5 think there's a lot of ways we can do this."; and
6 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the contributions of Reverend Robin
7 McCullough-Bade for her outstanding leadership in bringing faith communities together in
8 Baton Rouge; and
9 WHEREAS, she is a servant of God committed to the betterment of mankind with
10 a deep respect and profound love of all and is an effective communicator of the ideals of
11 understanding, tolerance, peace, and brotherhood.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade for outstanding contributions
14 made on behalf of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge for the citizens of Baton
15 Rouge and the state on the occasion of her retirement.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
17 hereby congratulate Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade for many jobs well done and wish
18 her continued success as she contemplates and engages in future endeavors.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
20 Reverend Robin McCullough-Bade.
