SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 71

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Hannah Fontenot upon being crowned Miss LSU 2021.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Miss Hannah Fontenot on earning the title Miss LSU 2021.
3 WHEREAS, Hannah Fontenot, a fashion merchandising sophomore, won the title,
4 Miss LSU 2021, on March 14, 2021, at the pageant hosted by Delta Zelta Sorority; and
5 WHEREAS, Hannah is from Lafayette and a member of Phi Mu; her first pageant
6 was the 2020 Miss Lafayette event, where she placed third; and
7 WHEREAS, this year's pageant marked her first time competing in Miss LSU after
8 the pandemic postponed the event in 2020; and
9 WHEREAS, the year-long delay provided her with time to prepare for the
10 competition's private interview, swimsuit event, evening gown event, and onstage question;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, due to COVID-19 guidelines, the normally crowded theater was empty,
13 without the cheers of friends and family, which made the competition harder for Fontenot;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, she said her favorite part of the pageant was working with the other
16 contestants and forming friendships; and
17 WHEREAS, Hannah is excited to see what the year brings as an ambassador for the
18 university and, during her reign, seeks to begin a chapter on campus called Dress to Success

1 that will teach students the importance of helping women who have been involved in
2 domestic violence; and
3 WHEREAS, she plans to represent LSU in the Miss Louisiana USA pageant in
4 January 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, in addition to her whole family, she was assisted in preparing for the
6 competition by her pageant coach, Ross Walters, her interview coach, Jimmy Lee Langhood,
7 and her fitness coaches, Angie Helm and Megan Bologna; and
8 WHEREAS, Hannah Fontenot merits a special measure of commendation for the
9 tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family, friends, the Lafayette community,
10 Louisiana State University, and the state of Louisiana.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
12 commend Hannah Fontenot on being named Miss LSU 2021 and does hereby extend best
13 wishes to her for all success in the Miss Louisiana USA pageant and for continued success
14 and happiness in all of her future endeavors.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Hannah Fontenot, Miss LSU 2021.
