SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 87

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Brown Builders, Inc., upon the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary.
WHEREAS, Brown Builders, Inc., is celebrating its fiftieth year of providing
excellence in construction; and 
WHEREAS, the roots of Brown Builders, Inc. were planted in 1971, when Wayne
Brown joined his father, James and brother, Doug, to form a commercial construction
company, which he named Brown Builders, Inc., to provide both the design and construction
services; Wayne's daughter, Kristen, would join them in 1999 to serve as vice president of
the company, and later as president of Brown Builders, Inc., in 2013; and 
WHEREAS, since its founding, Brown Builders, Inc., has grown into one of the
largest general contractors in Louisiana, and has been recognized for its construction
excellence by being twice named as the Butler Manufacturing Company Builder of the Year
for the Southwestern United States, Louisiana Concrete Project of the Year, and as a finalist
for Louisiana Entrepreneur of the Year; and 
WHEREAS, over the past fifty years, Brown Builders, Inc., has performed more than
one billion dollars of construction in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana, and other southern
states, which includes landmarks such as Benteler Steel, Parkway High School, Noel
Library, Willis-Knighton Bossier, Superior's Steakhouse, the Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Math building on the Bossier Parish Community College Campus,
renovations to First Baptist Bossier, several multifamily apartments, and the development
of over twenty-five hundred home lots; and 
WHEREAS, through their constructions, Brown Builders, Inc., has provided for
citizens to work, play, study, worship, and do business.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Brown Builders, Inc., upon the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of its
founding, recognizes and records for posterity the pride and honor it brings to the city of
Bossier City and the state of Louisiana, and extends best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Brown Builders, Inc.
