Commends Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker of Bossier City. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2 To commend Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker for his years of public service to the city of 3 Bossier City, the state of Louisiana, and the United States. 4 WHEREAS, Mayor Walker was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from 5 Fair Park High School; and 6 WHEREAS, he earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from 7 Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech), graduating cum laude and receiving the honor of 8 being named Outstanding Business School Graduate, and most recently, LA Tech Alumnus 9 of the Year 2018; he earned his graduate degree in business administration from Auburn 10 University; and 11 WHEREAS, in 1956, Mayor Walker entered the United States Air Force where he 12 served for thirty years, receiving the honor of Distinguished Military Graduate, and retiring 13 at the rank of Colonel in 1986; he also achieved the rare distinction of simultaneously 14 serving as a Command Pilot and Master Parachutist in which he earned two Legions of 15 Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, thirteen Air Medals, the Bronze Star, and the 16 Meritorious Service Medal; and 17 WHEREAS, beginning in 1989, he served as Chief Administrative Officer of the city 18 of Bossier City, Louisiana, for sixteen years; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 88 SLS 21RS-1848 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, Mayor Walker was first elected mayor in 2005 and is now the longest 2 serving mayor in the city's history after being elected for a record fifth term in March of 3 2021; and 4 WHEREAS, Mayor Walker has served on the board of directors of many 5 organizations, including the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, Bossier 6 Council on Aging, Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Greater Bossier Economic Development 7 Foundation, the Louisiana Military Advisory Council, American Red Cross, and the 8 Salvation Army; he has also served as president of the Louisiana Conference of Mayors, the 9 Caddo-Bossier Port Commission, the I-69 Mid-Continent Highway Coalition, the Retired 10 Officers Association, and the Barksdale Air Force Base Riding Club, and as Executive 11 Director of the Bossier Civic Center; and 12 WHEREAS, during his thirty plus years of service to Bossier City, the city has grown 13 and prospered. 14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 15 commend Mayor Lorenzo "Lo" Walker for his distinguished public service to the citizens 16 of Bossier City, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his vital contributions and 17 dedication to the state of Louisiana and the nation, and does hereby extend to him best 18 wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors. 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 20 Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker.
