2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 88 BY SENATOR PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATI VE JENKINS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker for his years of public service to the City of Bossier City, the state of Louisiana, and the United States. WHEREAS, Mayor Walker was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from Fair Park High School; and WHEREAS, he earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech), graduating cum laude and receiving the honor of being named Outstanding Business School Graduate, and most recently, LA Tech Alumnus of the Year 2018; he earned his graduate degree in business administration from Auburn University; and WHEREAS, in 1956, Mayor Walker entered the United States Air Force where he served for thirty years, receiving the honor of Distinguished Military Graduate, and retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1986; he also achieved the rare distinction of simultaneously serving as a Command Pilot and Master Parachutist in which he earned two Legions of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, thirteen Air Medals, the Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal; and WHEREAS, in 1989, Lorenz "Lo" Walker began a sixteen year term with the City of Bossier City, Louisiana, as Chief Administrative Officer; in 2005, he was elected as mayor of Bossier City and is now completing his fourth term; and WHEREAS, during his thirty-two plus years of service to Bossier City, the city has grown and prospered; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 88 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mayor Walker has served on the board of directors of many organizations, including the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, Bossier Council on Aging, Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation, the Louisiana Military Advisory Council, American Red Cross, and the Salvation Army; he has also served as president of the Louisiana Conference of Mayors, the Caddo-Bossier Port Commission, the I-69 Mid-Continent Highway Coalition, the Retired Officers Association, and the Barksdale Air Force Base Riding Club, and as Executive Director of the Bossier Civic Center. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mayor Lorenzo "Lo" Walker for his distinguished public service to the citizens of Bossier City, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his vital contributions and dedication to the state of Louisiana and the nation, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
