2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 89 BY SENATORS PEACOCK AND MI LLIGAN AND REPRESENTATI VE JENKINS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Robert J. Wright and Erin McCarthy on twenty-five years of exceptional radio broadcasting. WHEREAS, on August 12, 2021, Robert J. Wright and Erin McCarthy will celebrate twenty-five years of working together on the radio in Shreveport, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the duo began their collaboration in 1996 on Shreveport/Bossier City's K94.5 The Big Dog radio station, playing Top 40 music hits; in 2003, they moved to 96.5 KVKI where they hosted Townsquare Media Shreveport's Robert and Erin Morning Show; and WHEREAS, in March of 2014, Robert and Erin began their hit talk show, the KEEL Morning Show with Robert and Erin, on KEEL 101.7FM and 710AM in Shreveport; and WHEREAS, the pair have been keeping Northwestern Louisiana citizens informed about all the topics that matter in the community, the state, and the nation; and WHEREAS, Robert Wright, a native of Palestine, Texas, moved to Bossier City as a teenager with his family; he is a graduate of Jesuit High School and of Loyola University in New Orleans; he has conducted morning shows in several cities, including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cleveland, Ohio, and Orlando, Florida; in 1996, Robert returned to Shreveport where he teamed with Erin McCarthy to debut their morning show on The Big Dog 94.5; and WHEREAS, Erin McCarthy is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; she is a thirty-five year veteran of broadcast journalism and has been in radio in Shreveport for almost thirty years; she is a graduate of Baton Rouge Magnet High School and of Louisiana State University, where she began broadcasting on KLSU 91.1; Erin is a recipient of the 2019 Gracie Award, presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation which recognizes extraordinary women in broadcasting, and was designated as Top Female Talk Show Host in the category of Talk/Personality in Small/Medium Markets as a local co-host in a nonsyndicated program; she has worked in radio broadcasting in Tyler, Texas, Lubbock, Texas, and Northfield, New Jersey; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 89 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Robert Wright and Erin McCarthy are fixtures on the airwaves in Shreveport-Bossier and remain connected with what is happening in the community, the state, and the nation, and local and statewide guests are featured on their show every weekday morning between 6 AM and 9 AM. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Robert Wright and Erin McCarthy of KEEL 101.7FM and 710AM in Shreveport on an exceptional twenty-five years of radio broadcasting.
