SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Robert Showers on his retirement from the Department
of Health.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service with the
3 Department of Health, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, upon his
4 retirement.
5 WHEREAS, Robert Showers served at the Department of Health and Hospitals North
6 Lake Supports and Services Center for over five years, the Department of Health and
7 Hospitals Gary W. Project Office for over four years, the Department of Health and
8 Hospitals Bureau of Protective Services for over seven years, the Department of Health and
9 Hospitals Office of Primary Health for two years, and Department of Health Office for
10 Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD) for over eighteen years; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Showers provided effective and efficient services to the
12 developmental disabilities population and made a lasting contribution at OCDD by
13 interacting with providers, local governing entities, support coordinators, and Department
14 of Health program offices, as well as his colleagues, serving as an information source and
15 a friend to them throughout his career; and
16 WHEREAS, Robert Showers is an extraordinary, hardworking, dutiful, and loving
17 husband, father and grandfather; and
18 WHEREAS, he is a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist

1 Church, Hammond, Louisiana, and President of the Dr. Lavanner Showers Brown
2 Scholarship Fund; and
3 WHEREAS, during his time at OCDD, Robert Showers displayed exemplary pride
4 in every phase of his job and, as a result, he was respected for his professionalism, wisdom,
5 and knowledge; and
6 WHEREAS, his professionalism and willingness to assist others will be missed by
7 the developmental disability community, staff, and friends; his service with OCDD was
8 laudable and worthy of special notice.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby commend and congratulate Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service
11 with the Department of Health, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, express
12 appreciation to Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service, and extend best wishes
13 upon his retirement, and for continued success in his life's pursuits.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 Robert Showers.
