SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Many High School Lady Tigers' softball team on
winning the LHSAA Class 2A State Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Many High School Lady Tigers' softball team on winning the Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association's Class 2A State Championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Many High School Lady Tigers' softball team entered the 2021
5 LHSAA Class 2A Softball Tournament in Sulphur, Louisiana, as the top power-rated team
6 of the class; and
7 WHEREAS, the Tigers defeated Lakeview High School 16-0, Avoyelles Charter
8 School 10-4, and French Settlement School 16-5 to reach the championship game with the
9 Doyle High School Lady Tigers' softball team; and
10 WHEREAS, after going most of the game without a hit, the Many High School Lady
11 Tigers' softball team generated enough offense to claim its first state championship while
12 posting a 33-5 overall record; and
13 WHEREAS, the Many High School Lady Tigers scored four runs in the sixth inning
14 to defeat the Doyle High School girls' softball team by the score of four to two; and
15 WHEREAS, junior pitcher Tia Holmes earned Most Outstanding Player honors after
16 giving up five hits and putting the Many Lady Tigers on the scoreboard with a base hit; and
17 WHEREAS, fellow junior Brook Jenkins put the Many Lady Tigers ahead for good
18 with a two-run base hit; and

1 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the team earned and
2 to commend the team for the ability they have displayed and to express sincere and heartfelt
3 congratulations to the team members and Coach Keaton Booker for the championship earned
4 and the sportsmanship shown.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend and congratulate the Many High School Lady Tigers' softball team
7 on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's Class 2A State Championship.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
9 hereby commend and congratulate Tia Holmes, junior pitcher for the Many High School
10 Lady Tigers' softball team, on earning Most Outstanding Player honors, and Brook Jenkins
11 for her contribution to the team's win.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Coach Keaton Booker at Many High School.
