SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19
BY SENATOR FOIL 
CONDOLENCES.  Expresses condolences upon the death of Rosemary Searcy Campbell.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
3 death of Rosemary Searcy "Rosie" Campbell.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the Senate of the
5 Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing of a great lady and family matriarch,
6 Rosemary Searcy Campbell, on February 16, 2021, at the age of eighty-five years; and
7 WHEREAS, Rosemary was born in Lewisville, Arkansas, on April 21, 1935, to
8 Robert Lionel Searcy and Mabel Adams Searcy; and
9 WHEREAS, she was a graduate of Lewisville High School, Hendrix College in
10 Conway, Arkansas, and the University of Arkansas, where she earned a master's degree in
11 psychology; and
12 WHEREAS, Rosemary was active in her church and community, including the
13 Garden Guild of St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge; and
14 WHEREAS, she took much joy in working in her yard, walking her dogs, cooking
15 for others, and hosting fabulous parties, giving attention to the smallest details; and
16 WHEREAS, Rosemary was a true Southern lady who possessed the most generous
17 and giving spirit, always thinking of ways she could lessen another's burden; and
18 WHEREAS, she is remembered as a joy-filled and gracious woman who was a

1 loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend, who dedicated her life
2 to serving others; and
3 WHEREAS, Rosemary was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-one
4 years, John Stone Campbell Jr.; her sister, Miriam Candler "Mimi" Searcy; her mother-in-
5 law, Thelma Kimball Campbell; her father-in-law, John Stone "Jack" Campbell; her
6 sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Campbell James and Arden Anders Campbell; and her nephew,
7 Kimball Andrew James; and
8 WHEREAS, she is survived by her daughter, Miriam Campbell Jones (Bradley Ray
9 Jones); her son, John Stone Campbell III (Amy Falcon); her grandchildren, Katherine
10 Elizabeth "Katie" Campbell, John Stone "Jack" Campbell IV, and William Wright "Willie"
11 Campbell; her brothers-in-law, Johnny James and Richard Michael Campbell; her niece,
12 Camille McElmurry (Gary McElmurry); her nephews, Robert Stanford (Margie Stanford),
13 Michael James (Dr. Kenneth Schwartz), and Richard Michael Campbell Jr. (Tonya
14 Campbell); her honorary grandchildren, Regan Hubbell Baldwin, Michael Hubbell, and
15 Matthew Hubbell; her beloved rescue dog, Mimi; and her many friends, all of whom will
16 miss her dearly; and
17 WHEREAS, the memory of Rosemary Searcy Campbell will always remain in the
18 hearts of her family and friends, who will forever remember her as a positive force in her
19 community; and
20 WHEREAS, Rosemary represented all that is good about Louisiana as a lady with
21 unique gifts and a charitable spirit, and with her passing, Louisiana has lost one of its finest
22 citizens who left an indelible mark on the lives of the many individuals whom she touched
23 with her truly inspiring qualities and generosity, and who will never be forgotten.
24 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
25 does hereby extend its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Rosemary Searcy
26 Campbell upon the occasion of her death.
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
28 hereby express its appreciation for Rosemary Searcy Campbell's enduring contributions,
29 which shall long continue to be a source of deep honor for the state of Louisiana and beyond,
30 and does hereby pay tribute to her remarkable legacy, which shall live long in the hearts of

1 those who were touched by her humanity.
2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
3 family of Rosemary Searcy Campbell.
