SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 225
BY SENATOR CORTEZ 
JUDGES.  Requests the Family Court for the parish of East Baton Rouge to make
recommendations for the redistricting of election sections of the court.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To urge and request the Family Court for the parish of East Baton Rouge to submit
3 recommendations for redistricting the election sections of the court based upon the
4 2020 decennial federal census.
5 WHEREAS, following the release of the 2020 federal decennial census redistricting
6 data, the legislature may redistrict the election districts established by law for courts in this
7 state; and
8 WHEREAS, R.S. 13:1401.1 divides the Family Court for the parish of East Baton
9 Rouge into election sections for its judges; and
10 WHEREAS, in the exercise of its authority, the Senate seeks recommendations from
11 the court regarding redistricting the election sections of the court based upon the 2020
12 decennial federal census.
13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
14 does hereby urge and request the Family Court for the parish of East Baton Rouge to submit
15 recommendations for redistricting the election sections of the court based upon the 2020
16 federal census to the Senate no later than sixty days after the P.L. 94-171 data of the 2020
17 decennial federal census is reported to the state.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted

1 to the Chief Judge of the Family Court for the parish of East Baton Rouge.
