SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 248

A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Louisiana Supreme Court to submit recommendations for
redistricting the election districts of the court based upon the 2020 federal decennial
census.
WHEREAS, following the release of the 2020 federal decennial census redistricting
data, the legislature may redistrict the election districts established by law for courts in this
state; and
WHEREAS, R.S. 13:101.1 divides the Louisiana Supreme Court into election
districts for its judges; and
WHEREAS, in the exercise of its authority, the Senate seeks recommendations from
the court regarding redistricting the election districts of the court based upon the 2020
federal decennial census.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby urge and request the Louisiana Supreme Court to submit recommendations for
redistricting the election districts of the court based upon the 2020 federal decennial census
to the Senate no later than December 31, 2021.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted
to the Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.
