2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 254 BY SENATOR BARROW A RESOLUTION To commend Volunteers of America (VOA) on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary. WHEREAS, for one hundred twenty-five years, the Volunteers of America has served on the frontlines helping countless people, maintaining its mission of serving the country's most vulnerable; and WHEREAS, Volunteers of America has become one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive human service organizations with sixteen thousand paid professionals operating thirty affiliates in forty-six states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico; and WHEREAS, when Volunteers of America was founded, the principle of volunteerism meant to serve others as a vocation; and WHEREAS, Volunteers of America, one of the largest charities in the United States, mobilizes each time the organization becomes aware of an area where assistance is needed; and WHEREAS, from homeless veterans to seniors and families in need, to at risk youth, men and women returning home from prison, and those recovering from addiction, the organization continues to transform and empower lives in communities nationwide; and WHEREAS, most recently, Volunteers of America has launched programs to help those with moral injury. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Volunteers of America on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary, record and recognize its contributions to this state, and extend much appreciation for VOA's long, dedicated, and significant service to Louisiana.
