2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 51 BY SENATOR MIZELL A RESOLUTION To recognize Wednesday, May 5, 2021, as Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Day at the Louisiana State Capitol. WHEREAS, the private sector in Louisiana employs more than 1.7 million people with annual wages of nearly ninety-two billion dollars; and WHEREAS, the state economy is increasingly diversified with strong representation in the manufacturing, health care, construction, hospitality, oil and gas, educational services, finance, maritime, and transportation sectors; and WHEREAS, thousands of companies and entrepreneurs in Louisiana participate in local chambers of commerce with a mission to promote jobs, economic growth, and strong communities in every region of the state; and WHEREAS, chambers of commerce across Louisiana are dedicated to protecting and promoting the local and state economy, which is currently entering a recession, according to legislative economists, with thousands of jobs lost in recent months; and WHEREAS, Louisiana chambers of commerce are taking an active role in the legislative process in Baton Rouge to amplify the voices of employers and to encourage state leaders to take actions that will support and strengthen the economy of the Pelican State; and WHEREAS, more than fifty chambers of commerce have joined together as the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (LACCE) to support and provide chamber leaders with information, professional development, and best practices in order to better serve Louisiana employers and communities. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize May 5, 2021, as Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and does hereby express its appreciation for all the chambers of commerce that seek to expand opportunities for citizens and to make Louisiana continue to be a great place to live and work.
