SLS 21RS-443 ORIGINAL 2021 Regular Session SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 6 BY SENATORS MORRIS AND CATHEY CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences to the family of Daran Hines Reeves. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of 3 Louisiana upon the death of Daran Hines Reeves. 4 WHEREAS, Daran Hines Reeves died on March 26, 2021, at the age of fifty-seven, 5 after a long and valiant fight against the virus that causes COVID-19; and 6 WHEREAS, born on September 13, 1963, Mr. Reeves was a loving Christian and an 7 ideal son to his parents, Terry and Linda Reeves; and 8 WHEREAS, from an early age, Mr. Reeves starred in athletics, particularly 9 basketball; and 10 WHEREAS, after having a stellar high school basketball career at Neville High 11 School, he went on to play basketball at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he 12 excelled as well; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Reeves began his career in the insurance industry where he 14 proceeded to build one of the largest insurance agencies in this state, with offices in the 15 Monroe and West Monroe areas, Shreveport, Opelousas, Alexandria, and Marksville; and 16 WHEREAS, his agency, Reeves, Coon & Funderburg, became so well-known 17 throughout the state, he began a partnership with Origin Bank, to create a regional agency 18 in multiple states; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 6 SLS 21RS-443 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, when he was not engaged in his business activities, he enjoyed spending 2 time with his beloved family, playing sports, hunting at Hogue Island, or entertaining his 3 friends as he was known to do; and 4 WHEREAS, with all his achievements and wins throughout his life, there was none 5 greater than winning the heart of his beloved and cherished wife, Yvette, and raising their 6 sons, Thomas, Taylor, and Matt, into the fine young men they are today; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Reeves and his wife traveled together, worked together, and spent 8 nearly every waking hour together, and their deep love for each other was apparent to 9 anyone who encountered them, and their love for and devotion to their sons was obvious to 10 all; and 11 WHEREAS, Daran Hines Reeves is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, 12 Yvette Rodrigue Reeves; their three sons, Thomas, Taylor (Stacee), and Matt; two 13 grandchildren, Jax and Coco; his loving parents, Terry and Linda Reeves; his grandmother, 14 Sally Hines; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roddy and Barbara Rodrigue; his brother, 15 Donald (Amanda); his sisters, Denise Lafleur (Danny) and Michelle "Kitty" Sheppard 16 (Brent); his nieces, Analise Thomas (John) and Sophie; his nephews, John Clay Reeves, Ian, 17 and Alex Lafleur; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of special friends; and 18 WHEREAS, Daran Hines Reeves will be remembered for his devotion and fierce 19 loyalty to his family and friends, his sense of humor, his magnetic personality, his leadership 20 and kindness, and most of all, the love he gave to all around him. 21 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 22 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Daran Hines 23 Reeves. 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 25 Yvette Rodrigue Reeves, Thomas Reeves, Taylor Reeves, and Matt Reeves.
