SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7
BY SENATOR CLOUD 
CONDOLENCES.  Expresses sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Chester
Braxton.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
3 death of Chester Braxton.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
5 learned of the peaceful passing of Chester Braxton on January 29, 2022, at the age of
6 seventy-five; and 
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Braxton was born on November 27, 1946, to Jasper Braxton and
8 Connie Hockrider Braxton in Oberlin, Louisiana; and
9 WHEREAS, he resided in Kinder, Louisiana, for the past forty-four years, was
10 employed with the Town of Kinder for forty-two years, and served as the Town
11 Superintendent, evidence of his commitment to serve the needs of people in his community;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Braxton received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kinder
14 Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and served on the Allen Action Agency Board of Directors;
15 and 
16 WHEREAS, he faithfully attended Kinder Church of Christ and spent plenty of time
17 with his family and friends as he enjoyed taking care of his cattle, barbecuing, listening to
18 music, and watching western movies; and

1 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Citizen Braxton; two loving
2 daughters, Selena Terry Braxton and Amanda Braxton; two sisters, Bobbie Prevost and
3 Linda Thompson; three brothers, Charles Braxton (Piper), Alvin Peters Sr. (Margaret), and
4 Donald Braxton (Caroline); three grandchildren, Tatiana Terry, Reginesha, and Savannah
5 Jackson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends; and
6 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Andrew
7 Braxton, Jimmy Braxton, Warney Braxton, and Larry Braxton; and one sister, Fannie Cole;
8 and 
9 WHEREAS, the death of Chester Braxton has left a substantial void in the Kinder
10 community and a great sense of loss to all those whose lives he touched and his memory
11 shall live forever in their minds and hearts.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Chester Braxton and
14 extends enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brought to the
15 Kinder community and the state of Louisiana.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his
17 wife, Mrs. Shirley Citizen Braxton.
