SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7
BY SENATOR CLOUD 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Chester Braxton.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
learned of the peaceful passing of Chester Braxton on January 29, 2022, at the age of
seventy-five; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Braxton was born on November 27, 1946, to Jasper Braxton and
Connie Hockrider Braxton in Oberlin, Louisiana; and
 WHEREAS, he resided in Kinder, Louisiana, for the past forty-four years, was
employed with the Town of Kinder for forty-two years, and served as the Town
Superintendent, evidence of his commitment to serve the needs of people in his community;
and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Braxton received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kinder
Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and served on the Allen Action Agency Board of Directors;
and 
WHEREAS, he faithfully attended Kinder Church of Christ and spent plenty of time
with his family and friends as he enjoyed taking care of his cattle, barbecuing, listening to
music, and watching western movies; and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Citizen Braxton; two loving
daughters, Selena Terry Braxton and Amanda Braxton; two sisters, Bobbie Prevost and
Linda Thompson; three brothers, Charles Braxton (Piper), Alvin Peters Sr. (Margaret), and
Donald Braxton (Caroline); three grandchildren, Tatiana Terry, Reginesha, and Savannah
Jackson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends; and

WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Andrew
Braxton, Jimmy Braxton, Warney Braxton, and Larry Braxton; and one sister, Fannie Cole;
and 
WHEREAS, the death of Chester Braxton has left a substantial void in the Kinder
community and a great sense of loss to all those whose lives he touched and his memory
shall live forever in their minds and hearts.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Chester Braxton and
extends enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brought to the
Kinder community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his
wife, Mrs. Shirley Citizen Braxton.
