GREEN SHEET REDIGEST HB 221 2022 Regular Session Magee CONTRACTS/BIDS: Provides relative to procurement limits for purchases of materials and supplies by public entities. DIGEST Present law requires all purchases of materials or supplies exceeding the sum of $30,000 paid out of public funds be advertised and let by contract to the lowest responsible bidder who has bid according to specifications advertised. Requires no purchase be made except as provided in present law. Present law requires purchases of $10,000 or more, but less than $30,000 be made by obtaining not less than three quotes by telephone, facsimile, email, or any other printable electronic form. Requires written confirmation for accepted offers be obtained and made a part of the purchase file for telephone quotes. Requires the reasons for rejected offers be recorded in the purchase file for quotes lower than the accepted quotes. Proposed law modifies present law by increasing the purchasing limit for materials and supplies from $30,000 to $60,000. Proposed law modifies present law by increasing the purchasing range requiring quotes for the purchase file from more than $10,000 but less than $30,000, to more than $20,000, but less than $60,000.
