Abstract: Allows graduates of state-approved, Louisiana-based massage therapy schools to receive
one three-month provisional license upon graduation.
Present law states the qualifications for licensure to the La. Board of Massage Therapy (board) and
provides the methods for issuance to those qualified licensees.
Proposed law grants a three-month provisional license to massage therapy graduates in preparation
for the board exam.
Proposed law does not allow for a renewal of the provisional license.
Proposed law requires a facility who employees a provisionally-licensed massage therapist to notify
a customer that the massage therapist is operating under a provisional license prior to receiving
services from that massage therapist.
Proposed law shall cease to be effective on Dec. 31, 2025.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Commerce to the original bill:
1. Limit the provisional license to one three-month term.
2. Require a facility to notify a client that a massage therapist is operating under a
provisional license prior to receiving services.
3. Add a sunset date of Dec. 31, 2025.
4. Make technical changes.
