Abstract:  Provides for appropriations from the Education Excellence Fund for a French immersion
school in Terrebonne Parish.
Present constitution provides for the Education Excellence Fund as a special fund within the
Millennium Trust.  Provides for appropriations from the Education Excellence Fund for public
schools, nonpublic schools, the La. Educational Television Authority, the La. School for the Deaf,
the La. School for the Visually Impaired, the La. Special Education Center in Alexandria, the Jimmy
D. Long, Sr. Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, the New Orleans Center for Creative
Arts, the Louis Armstrong High School for the Arts, and Thrive Academy.  Proposed constitutional
amendment adds École Pointe-au-Chien, a French immersion school in Terrebonne Parish created
pursuant to proposed law as contained in House Bill No. 261 of the 2022 R.S.
Present constitution provides that disbursements from this fund may only be used for instructional
enhancement activities for grades pre-K through 12.  Proposed constitutional amendment retains
present constitution.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Nov. 8, 2022, if House Bill No. 261 is enacted.
