WILDLIFE & FISHERIES: Provides relative to the composition of the Oyster Task Force
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 56:421(B)(5), (13), and (14) and 421(C) and to enact R.S.
3 56:421(B)(15), relative to the composition of the Oyster Task Force; to provide for
4 members appointed by the Louisiana Oyster Dealers and Growers Association; and
5 to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 56:421(B)(5), (13), and (14) and 421(C) are hereby amended and
8reenacted and R.S. 56:421(B)(15) is hereby enacted to read as follows:

11 B. The task force shall be composed as follows:

13 (5) Four members appointed by the Louisiana Oyster Dealers and Growers
14 Association. One member appointed under the provisions of this Paragraph shall be
15 from Lafourche Parish and one member shall be from Jefferson Parish. Two
16 members appointed under the provisions of this Paragraph shall be selected at-large.
17 Of the other two members, one shall be from Jefferson Parish and one shall be
18 selected from either Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish.

1 (13) One member appointed by the Louisiana Oyster Aquaculture
2 Association.
3 (14) (13) One member appointed by the executive director of the Coastal
4 Protection and Restoration Authority.
5 (15)(14) One member appointed by the Louisiana Oystermen Association.
6 C. The members appointed under the provisions of Paragraphs (B)(1)
7 through (4) and (13) (14) of this Section shall be nonvoting members. However,
8 they shall be considered members of the task force for determination of the number
9 of members necessary for a quorum and for establishing the presence of a quorum.

Abstract: Provides relative to the requirements of the members appointed by the Louisiana
Oyster Dealers and Growers Association to the Oyster Task Force.
Present law provides for the composition of the Oyster Task Force.
Present law further provides for four members appointed by the La. Oyster Dealers and
Growers Association, one of which who is required to be from Lafourche Parish and one of
which who is required to be from Jefferson Parish.
Proposed law adds Terrebonne Parish to the list of parishes from which the La. Oyster
Dealers and Growers Association can select appointees from.
Proposed law retains the present law requirement that four members be appointed by the La.
Oyster Dealers and Growers Association, but changes the requirement that one member each
be from Lafourche Parish and Jefferson Parish, to a requirement that two members serve at-
large, one of the remaining two members be from Jefferson Parish, and one be chosen from
Lafourche Parish or Terrebonne Parish.
Proposed law adds one member to the task force to be appointed by the La. Oyster
Aquaculture Association.

The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Natural Resources and
Environment to the original bill:
1. Add Terrebonne Parish to the list of parishes from which the La. Oyster Dealers
