HB 324 Reengrossed 2022 Regular Session	Orgeron
Abstract:  Provides relative to the requirements of the members appointed by the Louisiana Oyster
Dealers and Growers Association to the Oyster Task Force.
Present law provides for the composition of the Oyster Task Force.
Present law further provides for four members appointed by the La. Oyster Dealers and Growers
Association, one of which who is required to be from Lafourche Parish and one of which who is
required to be from Jefferson Parish.
Proposed law adds Terrebonne Parish to the list of parishes from which the La. Oyster Dealers and
Growers Association can select appointees from.
Proposed law retains the present law requirement that four members be appointed by the La. Oyster
Dealers and Growers Association, but changes the requirement that one member each be from
Lafourche Parish and Jefferson Parish, to a requirement that two members serve at-large, one of the
remaining two members be from Jefferson Parish, and one be chosen from Lafourche Parish or
Terrebonne Parish.
Proposed law adds one member to the task force to be appointed by the La. Oyster Aquaculture
Association.
Present law provides that one member be appointed to the task force by the Calcasieu Lake Oyster
Task Force. Proposed law changes the appointing authority from the Calcasieu Lake Oyster Task
Force to the Cameron Parish police jury.
(Amends R.S. 56:421(B)(5), (8), (13), and (14) and 421(C); Adds R.S. 56:421(B)(15))
Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Natural Resources and
Environment to the original bill:
1. Add Terrebonne Parish to the list of parishes from which the La. Oyster Dealers and
Growers Association can select appointees from.
2. Change the requirement that one member each be from Lafourche Parish and Jefferson Parish, to a requirement that two members serve at-large, one of the remaining two
members be from Jefferson Parish, and one be chosen from Lafourche Parish or
Terrebonne Parish.
3. Add a member to the task force to be appointed by the La. Oyster Aquaculture
Association.
4. Make technical changes.
The House Floor Amendments to the engrossed bill:
1. Change an appointing authority from the Calcasieu Lake Oyster Task Force to the
