HLS 22RS-175 ORIGINAL 2022 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 338 BY REPRESENTATIVE COUSSAN FISHING/LICENSES: Provides relative to freshwater charter boat fishing guide licenses 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 56:302.9(C)(2) and to repeal R.S. 56:302.9(C)(3), relative to 3 freshwater charter boat fishing licenses; to remove freshwater charter boat fishing 4 guide licenses; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 56:302.9(C)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง302.9. Charter boat fishing guide license; nonresident fee 8 * * * 9 C. 10 * * * 11 (2) The annual fee for a resident freshwater charter boat fishing guide license 12 is one hundred fifty dollars. 13 (3)(2)(a) The annual fee for a nonresident saltwater charter boat fishing 14 guide license is one thousand five hundred dollars for operating a vessel that carries 15 not more than six passengers and two thousand dollars for operating a vessel that 16 carries more than six passengers. 17 (b) The annual fee for a nonresident freshwater charter boat fishing guide 18 license is five hundred dollars. 19 (c)(b) There shall be an additional five hundred dollar fee for each 20 nonresident charter boat fishing guide license issued under the provisions of Page 1 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. HLS 22RS-175 ORIGINAL HB NO. 338 1 Subparagraphs Subparagraph (a) and (b) of this Paragraph which shall be deposited 2 into the Conservation Fund, as provided in R.S. 56:10(B)(1)(f). Such funds shall be 3 used by the department for promotion of the charter boat industry, protection of the 4 fishery, and to provide for administrative costs of the fund. Such fees are to be 5 expended for such purposes through the Louisiana Charter Boat Association. 6 * * * 7 Section 2. R.S. 56:302.9(C)(3) is hereby repealed in its entirety. Present law requires residents and nonresidents to obtain a freshwater charter boat fishing guide license in order to represent himself to be a charter boat fishing guide. Specifies that the annual fee for a resident freshwater charter boat fishing guide license is $150. Specifies that the annual fee for a nonresident freshwater charter boat fishing guide license is $500. Proposed law removes the requirement that a charter boat fishing guide obtain freshwater charter boat fishing guide licenses in order to conduct guided fishing tours in freshwater.
