HB 348 Original	2022 Regular Session	Amedee
Abstract:  Provides for an increase in the per diem paid to members of the boards of commissioners
of recreation districts in St. Mary Parish.
Present law authorizes parish governing authorities to create recreation districts.  Provides that the
purposes of such districts are to own and operate playgrounds and other facilities or to engage in
activities which would promote recreation and the general health and well-being of youths.  Provides
for their powers and duties.
Present law provides that the recreation districts are governed by a board of five commissioners and
provides for their appointments and terms of office.
Present law provides that the members of the board of commissioners shall each receive a per diem
of $10 for each meeting they attend, to be paid from district funds, not to exceed 12 meetings per
year.
Proposed law provides for an increase in the per diem received by members of the boards of
commissioners of recreation districts in St. Mary Parish from $10 to not less than $10 nor more than
$65 for each meeting they attend.
Otherwise retains present law.
