RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 468 (HB 371) 2022 Regular Session McMahen Existing law provides for the crime of battery of a police officer. Existing law defines "police officer" to include any commissioned police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, marshal, deputy marshal, correctional officer, federal law enforcement officer, constable, wildlife enforcement agent, state park warden, or probation and parole officer. New law adds juvenile detention facility officer to the existing law definition of "police officer". Existing law provides for the crime of resisting a police officer with force or violence. Existing law defines "police officer" to include any commissioned police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, marshal, deputy marshal, correctional officer, constable, wildlife enforcement agent, state park warden, or probation and parole officer. New law adds juvenile detention facility officer to the existing law definition of "police officer". Effective August 1, 2022. (Amends R.S. 14:34.2(A)(2) and 108.2(B))
