Existing law provides for the crime of battery of a police officer.
Existing law defines "police officer" to include any commissioned police officer, sheriff,
deputy sheriff, marshal, deputy marshal, correctional officer, federal law enforcement officer,
constable, wildlife enforcement agent, state park warden, or probation and parole officer.
New law adds juvenile detention facility officer to the existing law definition of "police
officer".

agent, state park warden, or probation and parole officer.
New law adds juvenile detention facility officer to the existing law definition of "police
officer".
Effective August 1, 2022.
