HOUSE BILL NO. 555
BY REPRESENTATIVE CHARLES OWEN
1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 37:3611 and 3612, relative to occupational licensing; to provide definitions; 
3 to require certain boards to publish information relative to occupational licensing on
4 their website; to require an annual update; to require submission of certain
5 summaries; and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 37:3611 and 3612 are hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 §3611.  Definitions
9	For purposes of this Chapter, "professional or occupational licensing board"
10 means any state agency, board, commission, or substantially similar entity involved
11 in the licensing, certification, or registration of any regulated profession or
12 occupation within this state.
13 §3612.  Licensing data to be published; summary of licensure requirements
14	A.  A professional or occupational licensing board in this state shall publish
15 on its website all of the following:
16	(1)  The total number of license renewals issued by the board statewide and
17 by parish of residency.
18	(2)  The total number of new licenses issued by the board statewide and by
19 parish of residency.
20	(3)  The total number of applications for license renewal that were denied by
21 the board statewide and by parish of residency.

1	(4)  The total number of requests for a new license that were denied by the
2 board statewide and by parish of residency.
3	B.  A professional or occupational licensing board in this state shall update
4 annually the information published pursuant to Subsection A of this Section.
5	C.  Every professional or occupational licensing board in this state shall
6 submit a typed summary, no longer than one page, identifying requirements for
7 obtaining a full licensure status or practice of a profession or occupation regulated
8 by the board in this state.  The board shall submit the summary prescribed in this
9 Subsection to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and
10 International Affairs and the House Committee on Commerce.
11 Section 2.(A)  The information required by R.S. 37:3612(A) as enacted by Section
12 1 of this Act shall be published annually beginning February 15, 2023.
13 (B)  The summary required by R.S. 37:3612(B) as enacted by Section 1 of this Act
14 shall be submitted to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and
15 International Affairs and the House Committee on Commerce and no later than February 15,
16 2023.
