JUDGES/DISTRICT: Provides relative to the termination of an existing judicial section of
the Juvenile Court for Orleans Parish
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 13:1595(C), relative to Orleans Parish Juvenile Court; to abolish
3 specific judgeships upon vacancy in the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 13:1595(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1595. Judges; criers and stenographers

9 C. The first judgeship becoming vacant by death, resignation, retirement,
10 disqualification from exercising any judicial function pursuant to order of the
11 Louisiana Supreme Court, or removal during the term of office shall be abolished the
12 following day at midnight of such day.

Present law requires the first judgeship that becomes vacant by death, resignation,
retirement, or removal during the term of office on or after Dec. 31, 2015, to be abolished
the following day.
Proposed law changes the vacancy day from the following day to midnight of such day.
