HOUSE BILL NO. 630

HIGHWAYS:  Designates certain portions of highways in Iberia Parish and St. Martin
Parish
1	AN ACT
2To designate a portion of Louisiana Highway 31 in Iberia Parish and St. Martin Parish as the
3 "Judge Paul deMahy Highway"; to designate a portion of Louisiana Highway 675
4 in Iberia Parish as the "Judge Charles L. Porter Highway"; to designate a portion of
5 Louisiana Highway 347 in St. Martin Parish as the "Judge Carl J. Williams Memorial
6 Parkway"; to designate a portion of Louisiana Highway 96 in St. Martin Parish as the
7 "Judge C. Thomas Bienvenu, Jr. Memorial Highway"; and to provide for related
8 matters.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1.  The portion of Louisiana Highway 31 from the northern city limits of
11New Iberia in Iberia Parish to the southern city limits of St. Martinville in St. Martin Parish
12shall be known and is hereby designated as the "Judge Paul deMahy Highway".
13 Section 2.  The portion of Louisiana Highway 675 from the western city limits of
14New Iberia to United States Highway 90 in Iberia Parish shall be known and is hereby
15designated as the "Judge Charles L. Porter Highway".
16 Section 3. The portion of Louisiana Highway 347 from Louisiana Highway 96 in St.
17Martinville to Louisiana Highway 350 in Parks located in St. Martin Parish shall be known
18and is hereby designated as the "Judge Carl J. Williams Memorial Parkway".
19 Section 4.  The portion of Louisiana Highway 96 in the city limits of St. Martinville
20in St. Martin Parish shall be known and is hereby designated as the "Judge C. Thomas
21Bienvenu, Jr. Memorial Highway".

1 Section 5.  The Department of Transportation and Development or its contractors are
2hereby directed to erect and maintain appropriate signage reflecting this designation
3provided local or private monies are received by the department equal to the department's
4actual costs for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to
5exceed the sum of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.

Designates a portion of La. Hwy. 31 in Iberia Parish and St. Martin Parish as the "Judge Paul
deMahy Highway", a portion of La. Hwy. 675 in Iberia Parish as the "Judge Charles L.
Porter Highway", a portion La. Hwy. 347 in St. Martin Parish as the "Judge Carl J. Williams
Memorial Parkway", and a portion of La. Hwy. 96 in St. Martin Parish as the "Judge C.
Thomas Bienvenu, Jr. Memorial Highway".
Directs the Dept. of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to erect and maintain
appropriate signage reflecting these highway designations provided local or private monies
are received by the DOTD equal to its actual costs for material, fabrication, mounting posts,
and installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum of $550 per sign.
Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation,
Highways and Public Works to the original bill:
1. Change the highway name designation from "Judge Paul deMahy Memorial
Highway" to "Judge Paul deMahy Highway".
2. Add the following highway designations: 
(a)A portion of La. Hwy. 675 from the western city limits of New Iberia to
U.S. Hwy. 90 in Iberia Parish as the "Judge Charles L. Porter Highway".
(b)A portion of La. Hwy. 347 from La. Hwy. 96 in St. Martinville to La.
Hwy. 350 in Parks located in St. Martin Parish shall be known and is
hereby designated as the "Judge Carl J. Williams Memorial Parkway".
(c)A portion of La. Hwy. 96 in the city limits of St. Martinville in St. Martin
Parish as the "Judge C. Thomas Bienvenu, Jr. Memorial Highway".
3. Make a technical change.
