[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 660 Original 2022 Regular Session Cormier Abstract: Requires mandatory retirement of district attorneys who reach 70 years of age. Present constitution provides that in each judicial district a district attorney shall be elected for a term of six years. Proposed constitutional amendment requires district attorneys to retire at 70 years of age. Allows any district attorney who is currently in office and over 70 years of age to serve until his next birthday. Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held November 8, 2022. (Amends Art. V, §26(A); Adds Art. V, §26(D))
