HOUSE BILL NO. 709
BY REPRESENTATIVE SELDERS
HEALTH/BEHAVIORAL:  Authorizes behavioral health services providers to furnish
services to clients and patients regardless of those persons' location within the state
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:2154(C), relative to behavioral health services; to provide relative to
3 services of facilities, agencies, institutions, societies, corporations, partnerships,
4 unincorporated associations, and groups licensed as behavioral health services
5 providers by the Louisiana Department of Health; to authorize such providers to
6 furnish services to clients and patients regardless of the location of those persons
7 within the state; and to provide for related matters.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1.  R.S. 40:2154(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 ยง2154.  Applicability

12	C.  Any facility, agency, institution, society, corporation, partnership,
13 unincorporated association, or group licensed by the department in accordance with
14 the provisions of this Part may provide behavioral health services to any client or
15 patient in this state regardless of the client's or patient's particular location within the
16 state.

Abstract:  Authorizes state-licensed behavioral health services providers to furnish services
to clients and patients regardless of the clients' and patients' location within the state.
Present law provides for licensure of behavioral health services providers by the La.
Department of Health.
Proposed law retains present law and stipulates that any facility, agency, institution, society,
corporation, partnership, unincorporated association, or group licensed as a behavioral health
services provider in accordance with present law may provide behavioral health services to
any client or patient in La. regardless of the client's or patient's particular location within the
state.
