[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 74 Reengrossed 2022 Regular Session Deshotel Abstract: Increases the number of tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of La. that are eligible for supplemental pay from 13 to 20 and provides that the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw and the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe are formally recognized as Indian Tribes of the state. Present law provides for supplemental pay of $500 per month for any full-time police officer paid by any municipality or by the Chitimacha Tribe of La., Coushatta Tribe of La., or the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of La. that has passed a council-certified training program and completed one year of service. Present law limits the number of tribal officers from the Chitimacha Tribe, Coushatta Tribe, and the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe that are eligible for supplemental pay. Proposed law increases the number of eligible tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe from 13 to 20. Proposed law additionally provides that the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw and the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe are formally recognized as Indian Tribes of the state. Effective July 1, 2023. (Amends R.S. 40:1667.1(A)(1) and (F)(2)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Appropriations to the original bill: 1.
