HOUSE BILL NO. 748
BY REPRESENTATIVE MCMAHEN
HIGHWAYS/INTERSTATE:  Provides for the addition and erection of memorial signage
that reads "Drive Safely - In Memory of Kim Cannon" on Interstate Highway 20 east
of Exit 44 in Webster Parish
1	AN ACT
2To provide relative to state highways; to provide for the addition and erection of memorial
3 signage, as a commemoration and a method of increasing public awareness of
4 highway safety, that shall read as follows: "Drive Safely - In Memory of Kim
5 Cannon"; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  The department shall add memorial signage that reads "Drive Safely - In
8Memory of Kim Cannon" on Interstate Highway 20 east of Exit 44 in Webster Parish.
9 Section 2.  The Department of Transportation and Development or its contractors are
10hereby directed to erect and maintain appropriate signage reflecting this designation
11provided local or private monies are received by the department equal to the department's
12actual costs for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to
13exceed the sum of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.

Directs the Dept. of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to erect and maintain
appropriate signage reflecting this designation provided local or private monies are received
by the DOTD equal to its actual costs for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and
installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum of $550 per sign.
