RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 433 (HB 8) 2022 Regular Session Fontenot Existing law provides that certain active persons shall not be prohibited from possessing and concealing a handgun on their person when such persons are qualified annually in the use of firearms by the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). New law retains existing law and adds city prosecutors, designated assistant city prosecutors, U.S. representatives from La. and their designated, employed congressional staffers, U.S. senators from La. and their designated, employed congressional staffers, and retired members of the U.S. Congress to the list of certain active persons who are not prohibited from possessing and concealing a handgun when the person is qualified annually by P.O.S.T.
