R.S. 17:252(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง252. School master plans for supporting student behavior and discipline 9 * * * 10 B. Each city, parish, and other local public school board shall cause to be 11 developed and shall submit to the state Department of Education by October 1, 2004, 12 first annually a master plan for each school under the board's jurisdiction for 13 improving behavior and discipline in each such school under the board's jurisdiction 14 based on the model master plan developed and approved by the State Board of 15 Elementary and Secondary Education. 16 * * * 17 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 18signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 19by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. Present law requires each public school board to develop and submit a master plan for each school under its jurisdiction for improving behavior and discipline. Requires that the plan be based on the model master plan developed and approved by the State Bd. of Elementary and Secondary Education. Proposed law retains present law. Present law requires each school board's plan to have been submitted by Oct. 1, 2004. Proposed law instead provides for it to be submitted by Oct. 1st annually and specifies that the recipient of the submission is the state Dept. of Education. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
