SCHOOLS: Authorizes a tuition increase at Louisiana State University Laboratory School
and Southern University Laboratory School
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 17:1855.2 and to enact R.S. 17:3351.22, relative to university
3 laboratory schools; to authorize a tuition increase at certain laboratory schools; to
4 provide a maximum increase amount; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 17:1855.2 is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 17:3351.22 is
7hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 §1855.2. Southern University Laboratory School; tuition; increase; amounts
9 In addition to the authority granted to the Board of Supervisors of Southern
10 University and Agricultural and Mechanical College by R.S. 17:1855, 1855.1,
11 3351(A)(5), and 3351.1 any other provision of law and in accordance with Article
12 VII, Section 2.1(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, the board may increase the
13 amount of tuition charged per student at the university laboratory school by the
14 following amounts:
15 (1) For the 2006-2007 school year and thereafter, by an amount not to
16 exceed five hundred dollars.
17 (2) For the 2007-2008 school year and thereafter, by an additional amount
18 not to exceed five hundred dollars.
19 (3) For the 2012-2013 school year and thereafter, by an additional amount
20 not to exceed five hundred dollars.

6 §3351.22. Louisiana State University Laboratory School; tuition; increase; amounts
7 In addition to the authority granted by any other provision of law and in
8 accordance with Article VII, Section 2.1 of the Constitution of Louisiana, the Board
9 of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical
10 College may increase the amount of tuition charged per student at the university
11 laboratory school by the following amounts:
12 (1) For the 2023-2024 school year and thereafter, by an amount not to
13 exceed five hundred dollars.
14 (2) For the 2024-2025 school year and thereafter, by an additional amount
15 not to exceed five hundred dollars.

Abstract: Authorizes tuition increases at the LSU and Southern laboratory schools.
Proposed law authorizes the boards of supervisors of La. State University and Southern
University to increase the amount of tuition charged per student at each university lab school
as follows:
(1)For the 2023-2024 school year and thereafter, by an amount not to exceed $500.
(2)For the 2024-2025 school year and thereafter, by an additional amount not to exceed
$500.
