HLS 22RS-219 ORIGINAL 2022 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 1 BY REPRESENTATIVE IVEY VACCINES/VACCINATION: Suspends provisions of law authorizing the exclusion of unimmunized persons from in-person attendance at schools and day care centers under certain circumstances 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To suspend until sixty days after final adjournment of the 2023 Regular Session of the 3 Legislature of Louisiana the provisions of R.S. 17:170(F), relative to immunizations 4 of persons entering certain educational institutions during an outbreak of a 5 communicable disease. 6 WHEREAS, the Constitution of Louisiana charges the legislature with providing for 7the education of the people of the state and establishing and maintaining a public educational 8system; and 9 WHEREAS, the constitution further provides that it is the goal of the public 10educational system that every individual may be afforded an equal opportunity to develop 11to his full potential; and 12 WHEREAS, since March 2020, fundamental shifts have occurred to the way 13Louisiana's students have experienced education; in order to prevent more disturbances to 14in-person schooling and fulfill these constitutional requirements, the provisions of R.S. 1517:170(F) should be suspended; a suspension would allow, in the event of an outbreak of a 16communicable disease, individuals not vaccinated to attend early childhood care and 17education centers, and public elementary and secondary schools. 18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby suspends 19the provisions of R.S. 17:170(F), relative to immunizations of persons entering certain 20educational institutions during an outbreak of a communicable disease.
